DAY 53 - COUNTING DOWN TO THE 50TH

Good Morning, Class of '64

Fight Song
A fight song is a song associated with a team.
In both professional and amateur sports,
fight songs are a popular way for fans to
 cheer for their team.

Fight Song

Tygarts Valley, Tygarts Valley
Tygarts Valley High
We have the courage
And the spirit
That will never die
Rah! Rah! Rah!

Red and White Team!
Red and White Team!
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Fight!
Fight for your royal colors,
Red and White
Fight! Fight!

Of all the fight songs they could have chosen, the folks of those long ago days, probably before we were even born, chose On Wisconsin on which to model our school fight song. After listening to many, it's the best fight song, by far, than any other out there! They didn't give us anything dull. They gave us bright and peppy, and the school band always played it that way.

played it much better!)

John Philip Sousa regarded On, Wisconsin! as "the finest of college marching songs". It has become one of the most popular fight songs in the country with some 2,500 schools using some variation of it as their school song. Rumors persist that the rights to the song are owned by Paul McCartney or Michael Jackson, but this applies to the international rights only. The song is in the public domain in the United States.
